Funerals & Memorials

When we lose a loved one, a meaningful funeral or memorial service can bring comfort, honor a life well-lived, and create sacred space for remembrance and healing.

As an ordained rabbi, I approach each service with compassion, respect, and sensitivity to your family’s needs. My role is to listen, honor your wishes, and shape a ceremony that is both heartfelt and healing. Through Jewish prayers, psalms, and personal memories, I will help you craft a service that reflects sacred tradition and the unique story of your departed loved one.

Together, we will create a service that:

  • Honors your loved one’s values, heritage, and life journey

  • Offers words of comfort grounded in tradition and connection

  • Supports family and friends in mourning and remembrance

As both a rabbi and cantor, I am able to bring sacred Jewish music into funeral and memorial services. Music has long been a source of comfort and connection in times of grief. Below is a short clip of me chanting a traditional Jewish memorial prayer, recorded during an interfaith remembrance service aboard the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor.

SHIVA MINYANS:

I also offer shiva minyan services for families who wish to observe this important Jewish mourning tradition. A shiva minyan provides space for prayer, reflection, and the sharing of memories in the days following the funeral. While often difficult, this gathering can bring comfort through community support and the presence of loved ones.

UNVEILINGS:

In Jewish tradition, an unveiling is the ritual dedicating a loved one’s headstone or grave marker, typically held around the one-year anniversary (yahrzeit) of their passing. This gathering offers family and friends an opportunity to come together, share prayers, and speak words of remembrance. I am honored to serve as a rabbi for unveilings, supporting families at this stage in their grief journey
