Meet Rabbi-Cantor Cheri Weiss

I am Rabbi-Cantor Cheri Weiss, a San Diego-based Jewish life cycle officiant. I will work with you to create Jewish or interfaith weddings, baby naming ceremonies, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, and memorial services—each designed to honor tradition while expressing your values and vision.

I was ordained as both a rabbi and a cantor by the Academy for Jewish Religion California (AJRCA), a post-denominational seminary training Jewish leaders for the modern world. My journey has taken me from San Diego to Honolulu, where I served as the spiritual leader of Temple Emanu-El for three years, and then back home to San Diego, where I previously founded and led San Diego Outreach Synagogue, an independent “without walls” congregation. I have also taught Judaics at the San Diego Jewish Academy.

I am married with two adult children. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, walking my two rescue dogs, reading British mysteries, and tackling the New York Times crossword and “Spelling Bee” puzzles.
